What we collect, and what we do with it.

This is the plain English version. If you want to know what happens to your information when you subscribe to The Pen Pal Club, you are in the right place.

The short version

We collect your email, your name, your shipping address, and your payment information. We use this only to mail you a letter and to charge you each month. We do not sell it. We do not share it with anyone except the companies we need to actually mail the letter and process the payment.

What we collect

• Email address. Used to send receipts, shipping updates, and to let you know about anything important with your subscription.
• Name. So Niam knows who he is writing to.
• Shipping address. So we know where to mail the letter.
• "Who is this letter for?" field. Optional. Only used if you tell us the letter is a gift for someone else.
• Payment information. Handled entirely by Stripe, our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number. Stripe is PCI compliant and is the same payment processor used by companies like Lyft, Shopify, and the New York Times.

What we do with it

• Mail you a letter each month.
• Charge your card each month.
• Email you receipts and the occasional update.
• Respond to you if you write in.

What we will never do with it

• Sell it to anyone.
• Share it with advertisers.
• Use it to send marketing emails for unrelated products.
• Add you to mailing lists you did not ask for.

Who else sees your information

Only the companies we need to run this:

• Stripe processes your payment. Their privacy policy is here.
• The United States Postal Service sees your shipping address so they can deliver the letter.
• Netlify hosts this website and may log standard server data like IP addresses.

Cookies and tracking

This site uses no advertising cookies. We use no analytics tools that follow you across the internet. The only third party resources we load are Google Fonts and Stripe's checkout page when you click Become a Pen Pal.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

• Show you what information we have on file for you.
• Correct anything that is wrong.
• Delete your account and your data.
• Stop emailing you (you can cancel your subscription anytime via the Manage subscription link in the footer).

How long we keep your information

While you are a subscriber, we keep your information so we can keep mailing you letters and processing your monthly payment. After you cancel, we keep it for one year for accounting and tax reasons, then we delete it. You can ask us to delete it sooner.

Kids and this site

The Pen Pal Club is sold to adults. Niam and Eham are minors, and their parent runs this business. The subscriber is the adult buying the subscription. If a child is the recipient of the letters, the adult subscriber is the one whose information we hold.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change this policy meaningfully, we will email subscribers and update the date at the top of this page.
